When you book a Hotel, you are now able to cancel even if it is a non refundable rate. Amtrak, VIA Rail Canada, and the Airlines are doing the same thing. Amtrak, VIA Rail Canada, and the Airlines are not asking for a reason other than the CoronoVirus. Wyndham Hotels, not timeshares, is refunding non refund reservations even if you did not buy the insurance for cancellation. Broadway shows in New York are ding the

What is RCI doing about this issue? We are supposed to be in Texas in April for a college show and are staying at an RCI property in Canyon Lake City. However, the show has been cancelled due to the Virus. Any thoughts or suggestions. We did not buy the points insurance and there is no insurance for the RCI service. As far as I know, the resort is open.

From RCI:

You may cancel confirmed points and weeks reservations that have a check-in date up to 30 days in advance by chatting, speaking with a vacation guide or filling out the cancel form and receive an exchange fee credit for a future reservation. The exchange fee credit will be valid for 3 months from your cancelation date to rebook a new reservation. Your travel may occur after this time, but must be within the expiration of either your deposited week or RCI Points originally used.

If you aren't yet in the 30-day window, hold tight and keep watching. If you are you will at least get a credit for a new exchange fee (and I *think* you get all TPU/Points back too, but am not sure about that.)

Hilton owners who use their points for RCI bookings...
Get their points back and, if the booking is LT 30 days to go, credit for the reservation fee good thru 6/30.

I just called the RCI line for Club Wyndham Customers. Give them a Gold Star. You can only cancel reservations within 30 days of checkin. You get all of your points back and a voucher credit for the booking fee. The points expire whenever they would have, but after June 30, 2020. The booking fee credit is good until June 30, 2020, but you can book out until the points expire. The only thing that has to be done before June 30, 2020, is the act of booking.
