RCI questions

Currently I use II for exchanges. However, I have 2 units that will exchange with RCI. Here are my questions:

1.) I know I can't look first and then deposit on RCI, but if I deposit with RCI, can I search available inventory on my own or do I have to make a specific request?

2.) With II, my one bedrooms often pull 2 bedroom units when searching inventory. Is this true for RCI too - if my trading power is good enough, will a prime one bedroom sometimes pull a non-prime 2 bedroom?

Thanks for responses! just trying to decide ir I want to fork out the $ for RCI or not...

ANSWERS: 1. You can search the available inventory yourself!

2. All depends on your "trading power". My 2 BR Gold Crown fall and winter Siesta Key, FL, units pull hotel units, studios, 1 BR, and 2 BR units. My "power" has decreased TREMENDOUSLY in RCI in the last year, and I cannot pull many 2 BR units anywhere any more.

I have always been able to trade for 2 or more bedrooms...

...with the 1 bedrooms that I have had in the past. Sold my last one bedroom recently. If it is a desireable week in a sought after location, I am sure you will find you can do the same. Once I was even able to pull a 4BR New Year's Week at a Gold Crown resort during ski season with a studio (late summer beach week) about six months before check-in. The week was deposited a year in advance. I have traded for many 2 and 3 BRs with one bedrooms. It also helps to deposit early and to search early or last minute (45 days within your check-in date). I've been a member of RCI since 1984 and been very happy with all my exchanges. I have never been a member of II.

You can use your deposited week with RCI to search online for available trades. You will find a greater number of units are usually available with RCI than with II. With II everyone holds back until they see what they like, with RCI you want to deposit early to boost your trade power, so you don't hold back.

I have used both and much prefer RCI because there is more to see. It makes for a more enjoyable search experience. II is like a game of spin the bottle, no one wants to be the first to remove thier clothes but they want to see what everyone else has got. It really doesnt' work well that way. Every one needs to get there clothes off so to speak to see what is available.

I often trade for larger units with RCI

I love it!

Hope your looking for a summer week - winter might get a bit chilly!

Thanks to all for the advice - I will probably take the plunge and sign up with RCI..
