All,

TUGgers may have already reported this, but RCI is running a promotion now where you can start exchange searches without having to pay the Exchange fee -- they charge you when its confirmed.

The promotion runs through March 25th, and I started two searches and may add more.

They are also running a membership promotion where you buy 2 years (for $178) and get the third year free.

Just wanted to pass this along.

Best,

Greg

Any idea if this can be done in points? I can't find a way to submit a search request with points.

Greg

Only if you are extending a Weeks account. My Weeks piggybacks on my Points account so 2 years is $229 and gets me, uh, 2 years membership.

As usual, Thanks for nothing, RCI!

Near the sea.
It would be nice if the function actually worked on the RCI site :(

What a crock, works with Firefox, not IE

Thanks for the heads up.

I was waiting to do an ongoing search but did start one last night as a result of your post.

Seems a little different from past times, now the existing deposit used for the ongoing search seems to be searchable against at all times, no "peeks" necessary.

That got me wondering to the notification process for matches, previously I got none and had to check daily for matches, even though there were supposed to be telephone and email notifications. Is that notification process changed now so that it works, do you know.?

I've gotten phone calls and emails. Sometimes one, sometimes the other, but mostly emails and recently both. But just realized by reading your post that for the past several days I've only gotten phone calls - no emails. I have a (new) search that is hitting almost every day.

People talk about taking a vacation from the computer while vacationing. I'd like to do that - but am scared to miss finding out one of my near-impossible searches actually matched. Just last week I'd gotten a bit lazy about checking my matches as I had an old search going that matched every day (I just modified it so it doesn't) and I'd get the phone call and email and I'd just delete the email without reading it and sometimes not remember to go online later and check. Just plain stupid and lazy of me, but there it is - I am sometimes stupid and lazy! Anyway, late at night I remembered to go see what the darn match really was - and it was a near-impossible search matched! I was thrilled - and almost sick that I'd almost blown it. I'd say lesson learned but I've learned this lesson a few times already  The lesson is: if you have a search you really really want to have match, you better check it every day.

Does RCI charge an extra fee if you call to use the offer, instead of putting it in online?

I sent up two searches yesterday.

I called the WorldMark RCI number to request the ongoing search.

One rep said, we have over 6000 resorts, and you only want to go to those four? That's all for now, I replied.

Denise, I was having issues doing it online so I called and had an RCI rep set up the search for me over the phone. No extra fee.

On going searches in Points

Presley,

I was able to set up an ongoing search in points and I got a match within a week.:cheer:

There was no charge to set up this search even before the RCI promotion.

It has to be done with an RCI VC over the phone. I did mine with a Vacation Village consultant at RCI. It can not be done online.

Good Luck!

Excuse the dumb question - when you put in your dates for your ongoing request, what format do you use? No matter how I list them, I get an error message!

Denise,

If you are using IE as your browser, you will need to click on "compatibility view". It's the little square button (looks like a torn page), upper right of browser, next to "refresh" arrows square button.
