This notice is now up on the RCI Points site:

Due to new product and service enhancements being introduced, RCI.com and our global call centers will be unavailable from 12:01am Eastern Standard Time Friday, October 14th through 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time Sunday, October 16th. Normal business hours will resume Monday, October 17th.

What new service enhancements should we expect???

re: same on weeks side

I got the same message when I went to log into my weeks account. So, whatever computer changes they are making that weekend, has to do with both types of accounts and what reps have access to.

Probably some more advertisement upgrades, which always seems to work better than my RCI Points or Weeks member account content. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen the advertisements messed up...

This new points system in weeks is great. I hope they don't ruin it. I am loving my exchanges lately, but I remember someone here on TUG saying the new system may be a temporary thing.

But how do they go back into your account and change your points back to weeks? So I think it's a system that is here to stay.

I hope so, anyway. I already deposited my 2013 summer weeks into RCI for the points. I wanted to make sure I got maximum points, and the way people keep talking about their values going down, I was getting concerned about ours.

Maybe they're moving inventory to Platinum.

Looking forward to seeing what changes! Hopefully they're finally getting some of the RCI Weeks features implemented on the RCI Points side.

Oh, sure, I am looking forward to it too! Much the same feeling as awaiting my mammogram on Wednesday, and my dental appointment on Friday. ;)

The last long shutdown of RCI was great. The one before that was horrible. Let's hope for something like last November and not like the dreaded May "enhancements."

I see no Platinum inventory in RCI Points, so I assume it's all on the weeks side. I have no reason to look in RCI weeks in my Points account for anything. My points are too expensive.

RCI Points needs some improvements, but it is the same old bad system they have had for years and years. You search 30 days at a time for one very specific area (region or state). Inventory is diminishing in points, and I cannot understand how developers sell RCI Points at all.

Seasons are still alive and well in RCI Points. There are Wyndham Shearwater for 82K-109K in points, depending on season. If Shearwater pops up at the last minute, say three weeks from today, there is no discount in points, but that same reservation in weeks is highly discounted. How is that okay?

Same with DVC, but it's even worse. DVC weeks have been as low as 7 points at the last minute in weeks, but in points, that same check-in date is still full points, as though you booked it ten months ahead. What's worse, DVC 1 beds in weeks are [almost] always 32 points, but in points, they range from 41K-80K, depending on season.

I would never book a 70-80K point week in RCI Points, but I would book 41K. Others apparently feel the same way. Prime season inventory sits online for a lot longer.

RCI Points is flawed. OR, RCI weeks needs some dis-enhancements to make it equally flawed.

Ahhhh, an optimistic post!

Looking forward to seeing what changes! Hopefully they're finally getting some of the RCI Weeks features implemented on the RCI Points side.

I'm looking forward to seeing some changes also. I, too, hope that upgraded features on the RCI Points side will be taking place. :)

Why worry? You can't control what RCI does.

Best advice, have NO expectations. ;)

The enhancements are in both RCI weeks and points.

To prepare for the enhancements, be sure to take a screen shot of your RCI deposits and your RCI account balances. Also make sure you have all reservations printed out and in your files for safe keeping. It's important to "back up" what RCI may lose in the process. It will help RCI, if you are having issues with losing something after the "enhancements."
