New here and i have a question about points. I have a weeks timeshare in miami that I bank every year and go to other resorts. Went though one of those hight pressure sales things in orlando a few days ago (I did not buy) thankfully. but it left me with a question on points resorts.

Is there more availability to points system than the week system.. We are always finding it hard to find availability for resorts and even harder if we don't play well in advance.

The system is different. You may find more stuff available. The catch is the RCI points only books something like 10 months ahead of time, whereas the weeks can booked for up to 2 years out. RCI points also cannot set up ongoing searches like you can do now with your weeks membership. There are additional fees with RCI points, but a nice benefit is you can book more or less than a week at a time. If you tend to book at less than a year's notice and don't mind looking online often, RCI points might be a good choice for you. If you'd rather put in a request over a year ahead of time and not have to think about logging in and searching every day, RCI weeks is probably better.

You can set up ongoing searches in RCI Points, but you will only pull weeks inventory through ongoing searches. Points inventory is separate and will not match to any ongoing search. It takes a lot of RCI Points to get some inventory. I wouldn't take any contract less than 100K points, and I wouldn't pay any more than $1,000 in maintenance fees for those points. But it is a good system. Don't pay a lot of money for a purchase, when resale is literally pennies on the dollar, even 1 cent on the dollar, compared to developer purchases.
