We have Platinum status with RCI, which means we can use 50% of our annual points allotment towards partners. While we get better value out of redeeming our points for TD stays, we still pay less per point than we can redeem them for partners, so I like knowing how it works.

We get 122k annually from our Grandview contract, so we can redeem 61k per year with partners. I had been under the impression that if we used/rented half our ownership, that would mean we'd only be getting 61k that year, and so we'd be limited to 30.5k in partner redemptions that year. We just reserved half our home unit for the first time, though, and RCI seems to treat it as if we were given our full points allotment, and we redeemed half of it for our reservation. Does that mean we could still use 61k in partner redemptions this year?

Thanks so much...

I thought RCI did away with the partners program on 1/1.

I thought rci platinum was different from Wyndham rci points?

If points partners hadn't been discontinued, you would have been able to use up to 61k. Since they discontinued the program it is a moot point.

Yep, moot now. Really kind of sad that I asked about this at essentially the same time they got rid of it. I found out only a few hours later =( If I'd asked even a couple of days earlier, I could perhaps have used up some points. I've been idly watching for worthwhile hotel redemptions, but I almost never stay in hotels for more than a night, making the $25 redemption fee a dealbreaker.

I've clicked through the hotel 2000 points and while I got to the part where they asked for a credit card there was no $25 redemption fee. I was not looking to actually book as I have Chase preferred Sapphire reward points and Marriott points that I would use for a hotel but I was able to find less expensive options using cash on other platforms vs using rci with the 2000 point discounted rate.

That's good to hear, the FAQs still indicated it on the 2nd and the (fairly clueless) rep I chatted with that same day believed that to be accurate. I may occasionally be able to use the 2000pt redemption - it seems unlikely, but I'll check it whenever I'm searching. Thanks for the heads up!
