Hi. I'm waiting for a deed transfer on a unit at the Grandview which I purchased already, but have been looking for a second unit so I would have enough points to travel more freely and often. So I found an ad on Tug for a Grandview 2 BR lockoff that says it is week 50 and gets 65k points. The estoppel letter says 65k points, but to call RCI for point info. So I called RCI, and they said that they can't give specific information about a contract to anyone other than the owner, but that a week 50 2 bedroom lock off should get 98k points. So my question is, who do I believe on this one? I'm interested in grabbing this unit if it does in fact get the 98k points, but not necessarily if it gets 65k because that isn't what I'm looking for point wise. Any suggestions?

It looks like rci revised the chart in July 2021. #6923 https://www.rci.com/static/docs/en_US/pow/help/rci-points-grids.html
https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/rci-points-values-for-grandview-las-vegas-just-revised.322084/
So the question becomes did owner who bought previous to the change get a bump in their points? If it a tug person, you might want to see if they could paste their rci points page or have them do a 3 way call with you to verify how much they currently get annually in points. Since the person put down 65k he/she isn't trying to scam you and may not be aware of the bump (if they received one). Or they may not have gotten a bump in which cases you would know.

The ad was listed by Express Closings on behalf of a client. They said that the client told them they get 65 k points. I will reach out to them and ask if they can possibly arrange a 3 way call to see what the deal is before proceeding. Thank you.

There is a free 98,000 point ownership that comes with 196,000 banked points for free in the TUG Bargain section! That would likely be better than what you are currently looking at. :)

I just saw one that has 129 banked. Is that the one you were talking about?

probably - sorry that I had the number wrong!!
Thanks! I contacted the person at Express Closings and asked if it would be possible to have a conversation like Tschwa had suggested, and the response I received was that they were unwilling to set that up or ask because they weren't going to tell their client that they lied. So basically, I think I'm going to move on from that one, considering the attitude of the reply. I did contact the seller about the one you pointed out, so hopefully that goes better.

I wouldn't be that they lied, it might be that the number of points were increased 7 months ago and they might not be aware of it.

That is what I said. The response I received was that the ad said what it said and is accurate enough for them. In that case, someone else can buy it because I don't want to take the chance of being on the hook for something that isn't what I'm looking for.

It wouldn't be the first time someone misrepresented a timeshare. Hardly. The only thing that matters is what is written on contracts and deeds. Promises in conversation last as long as the wind that drives 'em.
