I own a couple of weeks at resorts that are affiliated with both RCI and II, so I could go either way. I'm wondering which exchange company would be best for a late deposit??

I have a week that I'm considering depositing which is less than 60 days out so I think that would limit me to the last minute inventory. But is that a bad thing? Back when I used to belong to RCI (15 years ago!). that last minute inventory was the great equalizer--everyone had the same exchange power and you could snag some really great resorts, if you happened to be looking at the right time. Is this still the case? Do they still put good stuff in there, or does it get transferred to to some last minute deals vacations sales area? Also which one gives the best hands on search experience? I remember I used to enjoy the challenge of the hunt!

Also, which one would be best for finding UK weeks? RCI seems to have a more resorts listed there but many seem to be Points. Does RCI also get more deposits??

Many thanks for bringing me up to speed, as I've been out of the loop so long I'm pretty clueless!

I prefer the quality and affiliations of the II resorts. I prefer the RCI search tools. There are more resorts with RCI, but many are not ones I'd like to try. I have II Platinum which make II trades less expensive for me.

How does II platinum make trades lesss expensive? Do you get a discount on the $189 exchange fee?

No guest certificate fee. Bigger discount on getaways.

With our membership agreement with Shell Vacations we pay $99 trade. Not sure if that is because of Shell Signature status or II Platinum.

Shell status for discounted exchange fee.
There is no exchange discount for platinum II status. Do not want people upgrading to platinum in II thinkging they would get cheaper exchange fees.

This is the availability I got when I did a search using RCI Weeks:

England [422]
Ireland [25]
Isle of Man [28]
Scotland [174]
Wales [120]
Check-in Date Range

-

Check-In Month
August 2015 [35]
September 2015 [51]
October 2015 [82]
November 2015 [83]
December 2015 [118]
January 2016 [81]
February 2016 [68]
March 2016 [35]
April 2016 [16]
May 2016 [14]

Using Interval, I got availability for two resorts, in December and January (the dead of winter).

So, it seems pretty clear where you'd get the most availability, RCI.

Interesting comparison!

Those RCI numbers look impressive. Thanks so much for running this comparison. However those numbers maybe misleading. Judging by their resort directory they include a lot non-timeshare properties, like rental cottages, etc. I'm not sure if those would be included in the count on your search.
