RCI: Free Ongoing Searches

To get free ongoing searches without being an RCI Platinum member...

Put a unit on hold by going through all the required steps. Go back into "My account" and release the hold. At the bottom, check the box to keep an ongoing search and select any reason why you are releasing the hold. (Doesn't affect the process)

Now go back into "My account" and you can see an ongoing search has been created for that February week in Missouri you didn't really want! Now you can modify regions, resort ID's, check-in dates - whatever you need! Yes, you can even remove the original resort that you searched so it doesn't affect your search criteria.

At least RCI let this slip through. Not sure how long it is going to last, so get some free ongoing searches while you can!

Ancient glitch. You can also play games with dummy weeks by putting things on hold and then doing this with DBWs, RCIBWs, etc. Another one is to book something with a real week and then call RCI and say you meant to use a different relation/control #, such as a dummy week, and ask if it can be "reconfirmed".

Cynic has another thread that discusses RCI aspects. I think they’re dummy bonus weeks and RCI bonus weeks, but it’s just a guess based on what he says in the other thread. No idea how one would get a dummy bonus week or how RCI bonus weeks he discusses work; I do get bonus weeks with a couple of timeshares I own, but am sure it differs based on contracts between RCI and resorts.
