I heard that some where on here you can pay a lower upgrade fee if you are switching from a Fairmont week based to RCI point based system. We went to the "sales" pitch about the change to RCI.. we could upgrade for a huge fee. Some one at that meeting told me about this site, but I can't find out about this lower upgrade fee.
Can anyone offer advise?

We own Prime Golf weeks at Hillside. we have been there several times, but generally exchange.

We have never been to an upgrade meeting and never will go.
We had a good laugh when they told us they wanted $8k to "upgrade" our floating weeks to points....
You can dump your fairmont week(s) and purchase points re-sale if that's the direction you want to go, and come out way ahead.

We exchange our weeks through Interval International and are extremely happy with the results.

You don't say what you use your week for, but by locking ours off, we get 2 weeks of vacation for each week we own. Your week will always be a week, but the points given for your unit can change.

I guess it comes down to how you use your week. If you can supply more info, you will have more luck with your questions.

First welcome to TUG. This would be better in the Canada forum perhaps the moderator will see this and move it. I do not suggest paying any more into this timeshare. I received a golden week last year for $0. That's right someone on TUG gave away a golden week and all I paid was the transfer fee. Stick with Interval International or use one of the independent exchange companies. Why spend more money to keep using what you have already paid for? Most people here feel II is the better of the 2 large exchange companies. If I wasn't able to use this timeshare personally I would never have taken it since the maintenance fees are really high.

Just curious why do you think RCI will be better than Interval.

Joan:)
