I just noticed in the fine print of our reservation for Lawai Beach REsort for Dec. 2012 that RCI exchanges have to pay a $45 housekeeping fee per stay. Is this only for RCI or is it also for exchanges thru II etc?
Thanks

Is this what you want your title to say?

RCI exchanges cause extra causes?

Are you sure that's not if you're doing a points exchange? I've seen that frequently.

And I'm sure you mean extra charges.

Yes, charges- this was with hgvc points. if this is true it's another reason to stick with II.
sorry, the iPad causes lots of problems for typing messages.

My wife and I stayed at the Lawai Beach Resort in 2010; if I'm not mistaken, only those who are actual owners at LBR avoid the fee. The fee is for housekeeping, use of the in-room safe, DVD rental deposits, etc. The cockroaches are included at no extra charge.

I used a RCI exchange into a company that I also owned through. I had to pay a $50 plus fee in addition to the money paid to RCI because it came through RCI. This was true even for owners at the resort. In my experience, the RCI fees plus the Resort fee for RCI eliminates any benifit to using RCI.

I guess it has something to do with American resorts and American MF's. Because we never pay any extra charge or fee except taxes for other RCI resorts in the world, only for US, and especially Hawaii resorts. For the Asian and European resorts we recently booked and stayed in we paid no extra fees at all. I have the idea that the American resorts do not want to make the MF's much higher and just present the check to the exchangers.
