RCI - exchange search has few results

I have a week deposited with RCI (154,000 points) and am searching Florida (Gulf and East Coast) for March/April 2013. I have been checking daily for weeks now and I get very few results.

I've never had this problem so far in advance. Has something changed that I am unaware of? Anyone else having this issue?

I am assuming you tried this. But try Bonnet Creek, Star Island, and all of Myrtle Beach. At a minimum, something at Myrtle Beach shold be there in the March/April timeframe.

Currently I notice the same searches I am finding 2 bdrm around the same time of the year in the same locations going for about 224,000 points. I called Wyndham/RCI and they say the points haven't changed but it seem like it's a supply and demand thing. The less resorts and mosre points to take the same units.

Maybe something has changed in the RCI system to convert those from 'High' to 'prime' weeks

Yes I seen the same chart in the system them may have adjusted things to Prime that were high in the past.

Some areas I watch have changed season assignments; they are much more fluid than the internal point charts.

Unless I am mistaken the new Wyndham/RCI portal has no 154K week though you can book lesser point weeks or add aditional points needed for a unit in 27K increments once availability is located.

Did you make your deposit prior to Jan 15th 2011?
If so the new point charts do not apply to your deposit and your searching options are different than the answers you will get based on the new RCI/Wyndham portal

I checked the RCI site this morning, I could not get in last night. It had availability for both Flordia and Myrtle Beach. I did not check the point levels needed, but I would think both locations would have something for the 154,000 points. Best of luck.

Update, got into the points needed section for Sheridan Broadwy Plantation for Myrtle Beach. I would just use the Wyndham system in the future, here is the sticker shock.

I deposited in March 2011 and I have seen availability for higher than the 154,000 points that I have. I've always had several choices for the Gulf coast in the March/April timeframe and now it is just one or none.

I'll keep checking daily and hope that something opens up.

Take a look at the chart that Ride posted. It seems like maybe you made your points deposit based on the old grid even though you did it after the change.

Also, if you are looking for March/April 2013, I wouldn't expect to see most of the inventory for that timeframe showing up until about now. Keep checking. You might just be a little ahead of the inventory.

I thought the portal allows you to search first and deposit later. I don't have any deposits and can go into the RCI portal and search for (and find) weeks. If that's the case, it shouldn't matter that only 154,000 points were deposited.

There very well may be different availablity pools for timeshare availability through the RCI/Wyndhama portal and directly through RCI. As a weeks member I can see availabity through the Wyndham/RCI portal for exchanges but not by going directly to my account through RCI. What you may be seeing is a difference between availability pools between the weeks and points programs.

It's actually a minimum of 27K to deposit, but you can deposit in any 1K increment above that as needed.

This is true. I don't know about any discrepancies between what's available through the portal vs. regular RCI weeks, as I don't have a regular weeks account.

I would suggest using RCI extra vacations for all-inclusive in Mexico. Right now, all of October is $278...which is only a little higher than the exchange fee you would pay. And you don't have to use your Wyndham points. Paying the exchange fee, plus the AI fee, plus using your Wyndham points makes Mexico way more expensive than it needs to be.

I know. I didn't mean to suggest that the 154K were creating the lack of available inventory - just pointing out that it sounded like the poster was not familiar with the new grid.

I said in the other paragraph that it might just be too early for the inventory to show up since it won't show up before it gets deposited.
