RCI Discounting Summer 2020 Exchange Fees, Call Center Only

Looks like they are trying to encourage booking inventory for this summer. First exchange for $199, second for $99 if booked by 7/24 for check-in dates through 7/26. Email says call center only, but if I have OGSs match or get a reservation I want on hold I am going to see if I can do it via chat. Below is what I received in an email on Tuesday (6/2.)

There are going to be all kinds of bargains out there to entice use. My Son told me the motel he uses in Orlando which cost between $125 and $135 per night is now available for $79...

My guess is that those who rent their TS Weeks will also be forced into major discounting...

Overbuilt areas where attractions are capacity limited (Orlando, Vegas) may struggle to fill rooms this summer (even with cruising not being an option). Beach areas another story. No RCI Weeks availability in Hilton Head, and just 2 resorts available in Myrtle Beach for June (none for July). Nothing available on Delmarva peninsula either. Still uncertain whether all resorts are even planning to operate at 100% too.

I have had pretty good luck hitting nice beach weeks with RCI for this summer. I have both the week that ends on 7/4 and the next week at Spinnaker Waterside in HHI. I got those within the last month and a half when changing plans up. I have a Platinum RCI Points account, and have been using some ongoing searches (OGS) that have aged a little. Last night I had an OGS hit for a week at Virginia Beach starting on 7/31 for a silver crown resort. My impression is about everything good on a beach is booked for the summer, but I expect quite a bit of churn and it will be people with OGSs that are most likely to catch what opens up.
