Madge,

Who is responsible for providing and updating pictures in the resport directory?

For example; The Blue Whale in Oceanside, Ca looks like a complete dump in the RCI pics. However it was completely refurbished a couple years ago and looks so much better.
I know of quite a few more resorts that are in need of updating.

Is it the job of the resort to provide new pics? Does RCI take pics when they come out for inspection?

Even in this computer age, I would have to guess a lot of people look at a single picture to determine if they will take an exchange.

Even worse than having an outdated photo is having no photo at all. Sometimes I look at resorts where this is the case, especially in Asia. In this era of digital photography, it should be easy to get one online.

CaliDave,

Resorts provide pictures to RCI for the directory. If there is not enough exchange activity, a resort may not qualify to have a picture, or if a resort does not make the publication deadline for a new directory, it may not be featured. RCI does require 2 photos - one of the resort's exterior and one of a unit's interior.

Madge,

I'm not sure if we were thinking of the same thing. I can understand some resorts not having a picture in the RCI book because of small activity or exchange requests. However, it would be nice if we could still find all of the regular info online, including a picture. Right or wrong, the picture of the resort does sway my decisions.

northwoodsgal,

For the resorts that qualify, it is ultimately each resort's responsibility to provide pictures to RCI for the directory by the publication deadline. However, pictures can be updated online more often than the hardcopy directory is produced.
