1. Can one, like with deeded weeks, request either a deposit first or request first exchange?

2. If I have VC points today, what is the temporal window that the exchange can be made - one year from today, this calendar year, this and the next calendar year, or two years from today?

3. Is there a flex change system, just like with deeded weeks? How does it work? Can one pay less points (than with a regular non-flex change) during the 59 day period, to get a given week?

With a week in II, you can either do a request first or deposit first request. in DC, it is deposit first only when you want to place a request. You must first convert your week to DC points and be placed on the wait list.

Are you talking about making an exchange with points in II to a non Marriott resort? If so, I am not sure. If it is through the DC Exchange company, you can bank and borrow up to one year. So you would have two years to use your points if you bank one year to the next. Once banked, they can't be banked or borrowed again.

Premier Plus owners get a 20% discount on points if they make a DC points based reservation within 14 days of checkin. Premier owners get the same discount if reservations are made within 7 days of checkin. Not much of a flexchange system, but better than nothing. Nothing for Standard Owners though.

This only applies to point based reservations through Marriott. It doesn't appear that there is any flexchange system in II when using points.

Thanks, for the responses.

I am indeed talking about making a request through II (using points) for a non-Marriott week. I understand that a Marriott week can only be accessed via the destination club, if using vacation club points.

In terms of II, when I want a non-Marriott week though DC points, and that week is not available, then I will still deposit the points, pay the exchange fee, and hope that the week is found and retrieved for me. IF the week is not found, and I cancel my exchange request, the exchange fee would be refunded to me?
