Questions on exchange through II

Since 2009, I have always just put my exchange in through II. I own at NCV and deposit Memorial Weekend (highest travel index)and usually exchange for Easter week in Hawaii(late March/early April....spring break). I have never had a problem and always received a confirmation by now(late July). I am trying to book with another Marriott.

How much longer should I wait? My request that I have right now is a 2 bedroom at Ko'Olina (which we got 2 years ago, no problem).

Also, I went into II just now to try and add different resorts to my request. And it came up that I have to pay an additional $50? I thought there were only additional fees if you wanted to change after getting a confirmation?

Not sure of any recent changes. As mentioned above, I have been doing this same format...deposit first, request, same weeks, same timing, since 2009 and never had an issue.

Thanks,

The extra fee is for adding non Marriotts. You get the Marriott to Marriott exchange rate only if you request only Marriotts. If you add outside resorts and pay the extra, it will not refund the extra even if you get matched with a Marriott. Don't bother adding Westins for your dates. A holiday week will not be deposited and even for non holiday non summer or whale season, most 2 br will not make it past priority.

How many are travelling. If 4, I would go down to a 1 br OGS and then add eplus to upgrade to 2 br if it becomes available. Marriott has been making more and more deposits in the 30 day or less period especially for larger units.

I remember having a similar reaction a few years ago. I eventually realized that I had added an international resort to a search that had been limited to domestic resorts and back then there was a higher fee for international exchanges. Could you be adding a resort that requires a higher exchange fee? Perhaps going outside the Marriott system.

I see that your question was answered while I created this post.

Thank you! Very helpful. Yes, I put down a Westin, but didn't finish and didn't pay. Good advice.

What do you mean by "make it past priority"?

How does eplus work if you confirm a 1 bd and then want to upgrade? Do you keep doing manual searches?

You do have to search manually, which is best done around 7:00AM ET.

Marriott owners have priority for Marriott trades. Starwood owners have priority for Starwood trades.

If 1 Westin (owned by Starwood) week gets deposited into II, they would still hold it for several weeks to see if a Starwood owner wanted it before giving anyone else a shot.
