Question Regarding Starwood and II Priority

As a new owner at SDO, I have been watching the threads here on TUG for a while before buying. I was reading the sightings board earlier today and noticed that there was WKORV and WKORVN available earlier today. I have an ongoing request with II using a Marriott Ko Olina unit for a couple weeks now and still have not received a trade. I was under the impression that Starwood owners had first priority in regards to owners, with ongoing requests having second priority. Based on what I've seen today, I'm thinking that first priority is ongoing request for Starwood owners, second priority is for Starwood owners to have visibility of availability, third priority being ongoing request for non-Starwood owners, and last priority going to everyone else. Could someone help clarify?

It's not supposed to work that way, but we know that II is inconsistent.

Are you saying that the exact weeks you requested are in the online inventory?

Yes, the exact week I was looking for showed as available on the sightings board. I have an ongoing request for a 1BR at either of the Westin Maui villas between March and July.

A couple of points to be made here.

1. Although you are a new Starwood owner, your ongoing request is being made with a Marriott week. So, you do not get Starwood preference. Had you deposited SDO, you would have.
Likewise for your Marriott ownership. Had you deposited your SDO and requested a Hawaii Marriott, you would not have Marriott internal preference just because you are a Marriott owner.

2. Nonetheless, it is strange that your KoOlina deposit would not pull Westin Maui, UNLESS you deposited the studio and are requesting a 1 bedroom. You do not state the unit size deposited.

In any case, call I.I. They may be able to help you. We are just guessing based on the incomplete info provided.
