HI!

There is this resale on ebay that says that I will have to pay the maintenance fee for 2008. When do they usually charge maintenance fee? They said that this use is for July 2008-June 2009. Do they charge it the beginning of the year (january) or end of the year (december) or is it based on when your use calendar is??

The ebay seller said that the points that I am bidding for includes 2008 so that I will still have to pay the maintenance fee no matter what.

The 2008 points were available to book on July 1, 2008. You would have until June 30, 2009 to use them so you would pay the MF. MF are based on USE year not calendar year.

If you are bidding on points for 2008, then you will have to pay the maintenance fee for the points in 2008.

Some maintenance fee's are charged at the beginning of the year. Some systems use a staggered monthly system.

It also depends on if the week is a converted fixed week or UDI Points.

Converted Fixed week owners pay for the week in Advance and UDI points only pay as you go.

That is important to know if you are buying converted fixed week unit points some fees may already be pre-paid (at least close, as you prepay 2009 in 2008 with 2008 rates, then balance out at the end of the year when real 2009 MFs are known).

UDI are just pay as you go, you do not prepay any MFs.

Don't ask me why they do it different I just know they do, as I have both converted fixed weeks and UDI points in my account.

Many sellers on Ebay are PCC's and the MF reimbursemnt is just another way to increase the sale price without the buyer being aware. The existing owner is still paying those fees, in addition to forking over $3,000 or so to the PCC.

You are right to be wary.
