Question regardin holding a week for someone in sightings board

I always see posts on sightings board when someone says "On hold for 18 mins" or something like "please hold it for me". How does that work? How can one pass the said week to someone who wants it? I hope I'm explaining myself clear :mad:

WKORV, WKV, SDO, Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra.
It just means that the poster has initiated the exchange, and they will release it back to the exchange company in 18 minutes. To get it for yourself, you need to be logged into the exchange company website, and refreshing the page for that particular exchange. Hoping that you can get it, as soon as it comes back into inventory. It's definitely not a sure thing.

I'm not sure, but I think I've heard of calling-in and requesting the unit be picked up when released....

I'd have to search, but that'd take too long right now. I'll look later.

It seems that the 18 minutes is really more like 29 minutes.

As follow up: I do see several posters (both RCI and II) discussing conference calls to coordinate releasing holds person to person.
I also see people being told 'no' when calling (so call back).

Just a thought for that really important sighting/pickup. I'll have to try it sometime and see if it really works.
