I'm looking to purchase either HGVC or Club Wyndham via resale, but one thing confuses me.
What is the significance of the "home base" location if you have the option of reserving at any
other resort that the points qualifies. you for. Is there anything special about where the original
owner purchased as opposed to the rest of the club network locations ?

For example, I am looking at one particular HGVC resale that originates in Las Vegas, yet I am in Orlando.
Will this put me in any way at a disadvantage if I don't grab the more expensive HGVC resale deal that
is based out of Orlando where I am ?

Maintenance fees.

you either buy at the resort you want to primarily stay at so you can reserve there specifically in advance, or, if you’re going to float around and use points, you want to buy at a resort that has cheaper maintenance fees for the points and save yourself some money.

@lotus921v is correct. I've owned for around 20 years at HGVC on the Boulevard in Las Vegas, and I've never stayed there. The only reason to buy at a specific resort is if you want priority to be able to stay there for one week every year. So if you were buying at a ski resort, you would probably want to be sure to have access to a prime ski season week. If there isn't a particular week that you absolutely need to have every year, then buy wherever the purchase price and maintenance fees have the best value.
