I have heard about bonus weeks that II will give to resorts if you have desirable weeks and deposit the week into there exchange pool.

my question is,, are the bonus weeks any good for traders/exchange..( RCI's are not very good from what I hear..) also do you pay MF on them or just your regular MF. how long of a "life" do they have, ie 12 months 18 months etc..

and do you still have to pay exchange fee to use them..

just trying to get a handle on some II things I am not up with.

They are called Accommodation Certificates and you will see them referred to here as an "AC". You don't pay maintenance fees on them, just a flat fee depending on unit size you use it to exchange into. I believe the charges are $199 for a studio, $249 for a one bedroom and $299 for a two bedroom, plus tax.

They are valid for 12 months from when you obtain them, and you will be given an AC, if your week is valid for one, when you deposit your week with Interval.

Within the "flexchange" period, or 60 days from today, an AC can be used for almost anything a regular week could pull so they are very useful for last minute exchanges. However, in the period after flexchange, your week will only pull according to a grid assigned to your AC, which basically is low demand weeks. So my AC can pull Palm Springs in August, but won't pull a week in February, other than during Flexchange, which is only up to 60 days in advance.

Hopefully that's Accommodation Certificate 101, and I'm sure you'll get more information from other smarter people than me.

Hi,

We have done three exchanges so far through II using our Fairshare Plus points. We have not received any ACs. I don't know what weeks or resorts we have deposited, only the point value. Is there a chance we could receive an AC for some future exchange?

Thanks.

I don't believe so because with FFP you are not actually exchanging a week. It is one of the few the II accepts points. Most points based resorts or clubs exchange an actual week, but not FFP. Since the AC's are generated by the demand of an actual week, I don't see how you could qualify for one. But you can always call II to double check that.

There are several TS systems which trade within II which never get AC when they deposit. It is because II has an arrangement with the TS system to accept generic points instead of weeks from the member. So Worldmark and Wyndham (who use II) don't ever get an "AC".

PS I believe that SVN (starwood) & Hyatt members also never get an AC.
