Question for oceanfront WKROVN owners regarding villa assignments

We only use our units every third year or so, but when we do stay in our villas at WKORVN, we are generally very happy with our room assignments (except for one time when we got a studio on the first floor that looked into the plants/pool/Pailolo Bar before we saw the ocean - there was NO privacy). For those of you who use your VOI's at WKORVN and reserve at 12 months out, are you happy with your room assignments? I'm wondering how far back from the ocean (or low floor) a 12-month-out reservation can be? Thanks for any info!

We can only book at 8 months out, but glad we never had a view as bad as what you described. We usually get something on a higher floor with a partial (sliver) view of the ocean. You know, very narrow angle, can't see much. Frustrating as we go whale watching season.

Are Renovations currently ongoing or have they paused for the busy season?

We just had our owner's updated today and were told that Buildings 5 and 6 are done, and they are paused for the busy whale season, so I think in April or May they will begin the refurbishment again. The remodeled rooms look fantastic.

We are OF owners and go to WKORVN every year. We always book right at midnight 12 months out. We've never been below the 4th floor.

We were in building 8 , 1st floor, looking south. I was disappointed initially when we first heard but we loved it. Views were gorgeous and it was so easy to get to the pool/ hot tub. We booked a 2 bedroom at 8 months

We are OF owners and booked at midnight 12 months prior. The front desk said we were first in line and was amazed we got this given this was our first visit. (Thank you Tuggers for showing me how! )

We had 2 bdrm top floor of Building 8 at the end of the building closest to the water. Our photos are in the "View from the Balcony thread" with some magnification. Although I have never stayed in the south building, I would say this room is as good as the OFs in the South because it had an unobstructed and straight on view of the ocean and was just as close to the beach. This preference is why we own there and don't trade-in.

Island View owner here. We book yearly right around 12 months, but I usually forget to do it on the dot at midnight. But it’s booked within a day or two, and we’ve always been put on high floors, usually with a little bit of ocean view in the distance of our island view.

Our worst villa assignment was above the smoker area facing the south building, but luckily we were able to relocate to a better villa that year. Best view was when we got an OF studio (a separate reservation from our lock off for extra family) but that was years ago and I doubt that will ever happen again!

We stay in the North every year, and like Jase415, I usually am unable to book exactly at midnight, but usually within a few days. The last 3 years we have had pretty mediocre views. All rooms have been pretty far back in building 6 near the lobby. I need to get my crap together and book earlier.

We have Oceanfront on Noth and most years book at 12 months and always get good room assignments Building 8 4th floor. This year we booked via staroptions due to having to reshcduel (we are here now). We ended up taking 14 days in a 1 bedroom so we do not have to move. Last year we did star options rather than oceanfront and stayed 21 days straight in same room (island view) as spouse prefers that vs moving and staying 2 weeks.
