Question about walking reservations

apologize if this is something already brought up but I have an existing reservation with 3 nights. When I go to change reservation to add another night, it shows not available but when I look at the inventory as if booking a new reservation, it has availability. Would calling club counselor be able to help me add the days for me?

What resort are you walking? I had an issue with Ocean Oak and shuffling points last winter and it was exactly the same problem you are having. I called CS and they were able to help.

I'd call C/S.
Someone said awhile back that it was a common problem.
The system didn't seem to know what you already had in hand.
We were told that the issue was fixed, but maybe not for affiliates?
.

I haven't had any issues "walking reservations" recently via the online system. But as @Talent312 stated, this may be an Florida gulf resort issue with inventory. Just call CS. I have done this many times in the past to walk reservations.

Probably a different thread, but the HGVC app sucks in my opinion. I find it impossible to do almost anything on.

That is such an extreme statement and so unlike your usual posts. I don't use the app since I like to just go to the website using my laptop. I have had the nights that I need for my trip to Hawaii starting September 30th for over 6 months so I have not even been on the website in some time. Did they make a recent change or upgrade to the HGVC app or website. Everytime they do the system is all screwed up for a period of time until the app or website developers get a chance to figure out what they should have figured out with testing before they put the new version out for owners to use to book, cancel and modify reservations. Usually I find the website works great for me unless the website developers mess with it trying to make it have more bells and whistles messing it up for a period of time.

If so, do you pay the fee only one time but can make as many changes as you wish? Again, thanks to all of you. I found this very interesting. I usually wait until all the dates I need are availble.

Correct, pay for a changeable reservation. You only pay 1 time, no matter how many times you change it.

Waiting until all dates are available might mean you miss getting the reservation.

All online reservations are changeable by default, AFAIK.

All online reservations are changeable by default, AFAIK.

Elite Free 7 day reservations which you can make online, are only changeable to another 7 day reservation or cancel.

But any other reservation fee paid, is essentially a changeable reservation.

Good point. When we were at the Elite level, this "benefit" would screw up walking a reservation when trying to add an 8th day. The system could not handle switching from a free reservation (7 days) to a fee reservation (8 days), so we had to call in that case. Now we are Elite Premier (all reservations free), and don't run into this issue.

I thought all the Mexican resorts reservations are not changeable.
Yes, some of the affiliates have different rules. I was referring to the majority of the HGV locations. For every rule, there is an exception it seems.

me too, I’m glad to see this thread. Yesterday I just added extra day one day ahead of the original check in time. In my case I booked for my niece and it’s no fee (Wyndham CWA VIPP). By did the walking reservation I won’t loose my guest certificate.
