Question about Room Upgrades...

When we purchased our SVN Timeshare, we were told by our salesperson to ask for a room upgrade when we check in, and that if it were available they would give it to us.

Well, we will be going to WPORV next month and they only had a 1BR Studio available at time of booking. What are the odds of trying to get an upgrade to a 1BR Premium Villa when we check in? Has anyone ever done this successfully before? Or should I just keep calling reservations back and check availabitly using my SO?

Also, are they any benefits to being a Gold member using star options or is this just for SPG? Does anyone know the difference between a Gold member and a Preferred Plus member?

Elite Owners (multiple week owners) have first priority for upgrades, and I don't think I've ever heard of a non-Elite owner getting an upgrade in unit size. If there are no 1-bdms. available now, that makes it even more unlikely. Your best bet is too keep calling, and trying for a cancellation. You can certainly ask at check-in, but it's a real long-shot.

SPG Status is only recognized at Starwood Hotels, it is not recognized at the timeshare resorts.
