We have a friend who bought a 2 BR at Vacation Village in the Berkshires several years ago and has never used it. I am trying to help him figure out what he owns and maybe trade and vacation with us. He told me he owns Week 48, but only pays a maintenance fee of $700 once every 3 years. Can anyone explain what this is. I was surprised it is Gold Crown, but seems to have very low TPU's to exchange into to. Thanks

Vacation Village affiliates are big in selling triennials. For points owners, this means they get 1/3 of the points every year. For weeks owners it means they get usage (and MF's) every 3 years. Summer peak season was more likely to be sold as annual or biennial. For the shoulder and off season they sold triennials with one or two annual RCI bonus certificates attached to the rci account basically good with in 45 days for weeks with tpu's of 11 or less. You can not use a guest cert with a bonus cert and the bonus cert exchange fee is either $209 or $219. It is a lockoff, but each side is only 1 br.

Thanks. Yes he has a deed. I think I understand now what they have.
