We would like to book a night using our holding points. Can we do that on line or do we need a VOA to do that? We do not want the points taken from our regular account. Also, we would like to use points to book a resort for Friday Jan 22, 2022 in Hilton Head, when does that date become available?
thanks for the help!

You can book online using holding points. Just make sure you choose from that bucket when it asks what points you want to use. As for when can you book a 2022 ressie, there is a function on the website that will tell you when that window opens for any check in date that you enter.

I find that the website automatically assigns holding points first if the reservation can use them.

Agreed, but you do have to keep a close eye on the auto assignments from the website as it automatically uses the points that will "expire first" but often that's points that could be banked to use in 1-2 years. The reps are much better about using banked points first.
