Back in December 2018, when my son first stayed at Canterbury on a business visit for his company, I wanted to find out how much he should charge his company. I was able to go to Club Wyndham as a guest and it provided me $ price for the stay at Canterbury. I wasn't curious at that time to even understand what they were selling. Now, if I try to do the same thing, I am taken to Extra Holidays. And now I am very curious about what it is they are selling.
1. I understand Wyndham could have 'unsold' inventory at various resorts and they should sell them in the open market to make money as any hotel would. Are they selling that through Extra Holidays?
2. If so, why would they not sell that first before inventory from members who want to cash their points?
3. Why do you have to make reservations and then give it to Extra Holidays? Why not just lend them our points to use? Sell it for max and take a 40% cut.
4. If I am able to donate points to the US Armed Forces, why not use the same scheme for Extra Holidays? Why do I have to make a specific reservation?
5. Why not rent out the points I lend them at $12/1000 and pay me $7.20/1000?
6. In a distributed reservation database which allows local resort control, what controls exist to prevent Resort managers from taking high demand inventory offline so they can sell it through Extra Holidays. Dec 31 was not available for Grand Desert on the CLub Wyndham website but was available for ~$800/night on Extra Holidays.
7. At National Harbor, I had to decline so many requests in November but some Mega-Renter had no problem accommodating the person I declined. Are there any 'tips' involved? (@dgalati)

Wyndham's inventory is a perishable commodity that expires every night. Therefore, unsold inventory that Wyndham owns is also a perishable commodity. Whereas the points we own are a claim on that perishable commodity with a longer expiration date of one year or more. So, Extra Holidays wants us to commit our points to specific perishable units by making reservations. So they have already sold the perishable commodity to prepaid owners and then they attempt to sell it to a third party at a 40% commission.
Wow, what a scam! Heads I win, Tails you lose! 40% is ridiculous, 6% is the real estate norm. Real estate guys work much harder to earn their commission! Airbnb charges hosts 3%.
