Question about “taxes and fees” for the Capital Vacation timeshare presentation gifts…

So we are attending a time share presentation at Myrtle Beach. This includes a free stay at a hotel.

As our gift, AFTER this presentation, we get two flight vouchers and a separate 7 night stay at a different condo of our choice.

We already paid $300 in taxes and fees. It was implied that these taxes and fees covered both the Myrtle beach trip AND the flight and condo gifts. My concern - will we need to pay additional / separate taxes and fees for our flight and condo gift?

You would have to ask Capital or read any material they sent you.

The “free” gifts have fees & taxes on each trip/gift. You’ve only paid for the original one so far. We spent $159 in fees/taxes for our 7 night ‘free’ stay after our last presentation. You will also possibly have to pay resort fees or a per person fee depending on the terms. We’ve done 3 free cruises from Capital & have saved quite a bit but they are far from free. Still a good deal for our time. We are owners & normally out of the presentation within 15-45 min.

Luck...it has happened a couple times with the last being Dec 2022 in Branson @ Grand Crown. They want us to trade in our week for Capital Vacation points. They looked at our file & asked if we were ready to move to points yet & we said no. They said thank you & took us to get our gifts.

I’ve also pointed out the free CV point accounts on timeshare nation or the last 3 auctions on eBay for $1 didn’t get any bids. It either pisses them off or ends the presentation.

Our last presentation in Feb 2024 in Orlando was over in 30 min. They said we were owners & not sure why we were there. They said took us to a conference room & said we had to wait our 90 min time limit. After about 10 min, they came to take us to gifting. They tried to give us $50 gift card & call it good. We had screenshots of our agreed upon gifts (they tried a bait & switch), they we actually ended up with more gifts than we initially were expecting. That took about 20 min, so about an hour total. We were planning 90 min & out in 60. I see it as a game which I know is not the purpose, but we won that one.

We did buy our first TS retail & then CV bought them . We refuse to move to their points/high MF program. Instead we learned here how to use what we own & bought our next 2 TS resale. If you play the game, there are several hoops to jump through & hidden fees. In the end, you can get some great vacations & memories from these. We activated our cruise cert last night one day before it expired from our Feb trip. We now have 12 mo to use it & we will probably plan it over Labor Day when we are in St Pete attending a blue/green presentation & getting our next cruise cert.
