When Alaska announced that it was joining Oneworld, one of the items that some people were wondering about was the integration of the Alaska FF program into Oneworld. Specifically, the Alaska program apparently has some perks and advantages that aren't widely available in other Oneworld partners, leading to assumptions that Alaska would be required to remove some perks, so that Oneworld flyers would not route their miles to Alaska and use the Alaska program for their Oneworld status. I'm not sufficiently involved with other programs to know what those perks are that might cause Oneworld flyers to park their miles at Alaska.

Now there is at least a partial answer. To attain FF status on Alaska, there is a minimum number of flights that must be on Alaska metal and marketed through Alaska. See chart below.

Qualifying for basic FF status is easy - 2 flight segments. But the thresholds escalate rapidly thereafter. So to hit the top tiers on Alaska, it will be necessary to book Alaska metal, with flights booked as Alaska flights, not as codeshares and not depositing miles from other Oneworld flights into an Alaska account. Presumably, if you hit the Alaska air minimum metal thresholds, then you can move all your miles into Alaska. Do other Oneworld members have similar requirements for minimum flight segments on their flights to attain elite status?
