Does anyone still connect their electronics via Ethernet?

What is the best Ethernet Cable for streaming videos ?
One that is fast, solid and a reliable network connection.

Cables come in various sizes Cat 6 - Cat 7 - Cat 8 Regular, Slim, Ultra Slim
with a range of (AWG) America Wire Guage sizes and Snagless or Molded

After doing a little updated research on Ethernet Cables & HDMI Cables
Ordered the Tripp Lite 15 FT RJ45 Connector - Male - Cat 6 - Patch Cable
HIgh Speed up to 550MHz - Model: N201-015-WH with Lifetime Warranty
Fast delivery from memoryc_deals for $10 including shipping
Will see if the Tripp LIte Brand makes any difference after we try it awhile.

Note: Cable Color is supposed to be White but is more of an Antique White.

Tripp Lite is known for their power related products such as PDUs and UPSs, and also KVMs and other network/server devices. I’ve used their cables and they are nothing to write home about.

I typically order ethernet cables from monoprice.com and have been quite pleased. And yes, many people still use ethernet.

On an XP era computer, it won't matter. Adapters back then only supported 100 Mbps, and Cat 5 is all you need.

Found the exact part we were looking for @ Newark. com

Searched computer stores in the area, including MicroCenter
and ebay. Found one at MC that was just 2mm off in sized and
a company in upstate New York that was currently out of stock.

Finally came across Newark a high-service distributor
of technology products online. Chatted with customer service
representative who emailed me a photo of my exact heat sink.

Placed order and received part last week.. It only took Bill
a few minutes to open the box and install it in the computer.

INTEL CPU Cooler LGA 775 including shipping $20.58

Happy to have my old computer back up and running again.

I thought the previous post was a joke....... your serious.

MY Q - the device that controls the garage doors with a phone app requires a direct connection to a router using an ethernet cable.

However, ethernet is a cable for networks. Not a network itself.

Yes. However, as an example you may also directly connect a computer to a cable modem without a router.

Your device that controls the garage is best connected via Ethernet for reliability but I’m surprised it doesn’t have wifi built in as an alternative method of connectivity (assuming it’s relatively new).

Q: Home Office

How do you Connect Two Computers Together with a Ethernet Cable so that you can share files between them by using both computers' file sharing settings.

What steps do you need to follow in order to share files between computers once the computers are connected via an Ethernet cable. Can you use a Crossover Adapter to easily convert a standard patch cable into a crossover.

Normally, store data with the stylish Lexar® JumpDrive® M45 USB 3.1 Flash Drive with metal finish and move files/photos between computers as needed. Realty miss the older Lexar JumpDrive TwistTurn USB flash drives with red blinking light on top.

if you don't have a little hub, you can use a crossover cable. You need to manually assign IP addresses, like 192.168.0.100 gateway 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 and make the other computer 192.168.0.101
