Pvr taxi hack

I was given this hack by a guy I met on the flight to Puerto Vallarta. When you collect you luggage and try to get a taxi at the airport you can be waiting in long lines . You can cross the bridge but the lines there are as bad as the airport lines when things are busy. We arrived on Saturday and the airport was packed.

The hack is to walk down the sidewalk towards Avis. Taxi's that have dropped people off have to circle the airport to get back in line to pick up passengers and are willing to pick you up. Now I wonder why I couldn't just grab a taxi as they drop off their passengers instead of walking off airport property. It could be rules.

The taxi hack we use is to just get on the bus downtown. Costs way less and is quick & easy.

I've done it at HNL when I was traveling light. I met a couple of very nice, really interesting people on The Bus.
I even took the Bus from Kahalui to Lahaina once. It was fine, better than sitting all alone in my own rental staring out the windshield.
Hack: arriving late at OGG? reserve 1 night room at that place in Kahalui, get up in the AM, go for a run, eat breakfast, walk over to the mall, get on the bus to Lahaina (or Kihei if that's your deal). Only did it once, but it worked out great. And in Lahaina, the other bus took you to Kaanapali & Napili, etc

Not sure the status of that Lahaina bus with Lahaina out of commission. Does it go straight to Kaanapali or stop short of Lahaina?

We have had to take the bus from hnl to Waikiki on one trip. We did have alot of luggage and gear. It was no problem but not my favorite way to get to Waikiki.

At Puerto Vallarta, I wouldn't know what bus to take even if I liked the bus, which I only like better than walking. The usual is a rental car but New Years week cost as much as a month so it's a taxi for now.

I cross the bridge. There is a nice guy who will lug you luggage across the bridge for tips! We usually have him take us into Tacon de Marlin and eat an awesome lunch and then get into the taxi line! I generally arrive in PV between 1:00-2:00, as does my brother and his wife, so we have a great lunch and get to the resort closer to when the rooms are ready for occupancy.
