My 14 month old grandson is coming to Puerto Vallarta in January and we are staying in the marina. The main reason we chose that location is because my DIL does not want to put the baby on the bus or in a PV taxi so we will be spending our time at the Mayan Palace or at the restaurants in the marina. However, there is still the issue of going from/to the airport. Does anyone know of a car service that has a car seat? Bringing one is a last resort as they are already bringing a stroller and portable crib.

If anyone knows about the quality of the cribs at the PV Mayan Palace, that would be helpful too.

Call concierge desk at MP - Marina

The concierge desk at MP - Marina will send you an email that gives free transportation from the airport to resort . ( you pay going back ) It is through a company that does airport pick ups for them everyday so perhaps they can arrange a vehicle with a car seat

The concierge can probably give or find out information on the cribs .

MP - Marina is a great location
Concierge is separate(from the wrist band folks )

You can request a crib at the Mayan Palace. They are the pak-and-play size but are wooden and work well. They are more like the portable cribs that daycares have.

As for car seat - that is tough. Car seats are not required in Mexico, so you seldom see one in a car. The newer taxis do have seat belts, but I am not aware of any with car seats. (Many taxis do not seat belts.) Taxis are small in Mexico and it takes a long time to get a car seat installed properly. With 4 adults and one child, it would have been very difficult to put a car seat into a taxi. (you will most likely need one of the vans) At the airport, they are trying to load and unload very fast and folks get impatient with folks who take forever to get loaded.

The Marina MP is very close to the airport, so it is a very short trip in a taxi. When our grandson was 9 months old, we told our D-I-L that she could bring the stroller, but not the car seat. She was apprehensive, but it worked out OK.

We just got back from 3 weeks in PV, and I did not see any vehicle with kids in a car seat.

Rental Agency car seats are notoriously bad. You may get one that is dirty, broken, missing parts, wrong size, or has been in an accident.

I would definitely bring the child's own car seat from home. If he has his own ticket, he can sit in the car seat on the plane. He will be more comfortable and relaxed in his own car seat, and since he is used to being in the car seat in the car, he is more likely to be content there.

If he is a lap baby, you can check the car seat for free.

I would not consider putting a child in a car without a car seat, just because it isn't required by law.

If you are referring to the company that picks you up at the airport from PV, yes, they do provide a car seat, if you ask ahead of time. At least they did for us, last year, for the Grand Luxxe/Grand Mayan (Vidanta resorts, basically).

I don't remember if we had a car seat on the way from the resort to the airport though.

You can request a crib/pack'n'play, but don't be surprised if it doesn't show up and you have to ask many times and wait a few days for it to show up. (at least at the GL the service was sub-optimal last year when we went). If it's not in your room, you may have a better chance with the cleaning staff of getting what you want/need.

PV tours has a car seat service.

Child Car Seats: Child Seats are available upon request for a charge equal to one additional passenger. You can request one during checkout. -

I do not remember the name of his company but a tour person named Hector does airport transfers and trips in the PV area. He has car seats if requested. He drives a Suburban.

Thank you Bill. That was just what I was hoping to find.
Does anyone happen to know the email for the concierge at the MP in the marina? I can't find it on their website. I sent an email to customer service a couple of days ago, but, so far, have received no reply.
