Purchase HPP Points From a Third Party

I am a HVC owner and I would like to purchase some more points under the HPP program. There is a website that facilitates these transactions between buyer and seller. The purchase price per point is substantially less than what's offered at the Hyatt sales presentations. When I asked about this at the presentation they said that is not permitted. Sounds like baloney to me. Has anyone here had experience purchasing HPP (not Hyatt Vacation Club)
points through a 3rd party website?

Hi @Tomc2 I've looked into this, and here's what I've read/interpreted from the Hyatt Portfolio agreement documents.

1. Remember that Hyatt Portfolio is basically a really big member of the Hyatt Residence Club. It's as if they purchased all the unsold dregs from Wild Oak, Coconut Plantation, Carmel, and created an internal "club" for anyone who purchases shares of this club. They can set their own rules internally in the club to allocate to their dregs, but not outside the club when they deal with the rest of us in Hyatt Residence Club.

2. Because people who buy into the Portfolio club are not given a deed like in Hyatt Residence Club - they are given a "share" - they can discourage resale by giving resale people way fewer rights besides those mandated by law. So they are back of line in their own "club" without any internal perks. See the post above.

3. Finally (dealkiller for many) it's expensive on an annual fees per Portfolio point.

What’s your motivation for buying HPP rather than another deed that equates to the points you would like to add to your portfolio? It seems that would be a more cost effective and productive way to go.

Best regards.

I will only buy Hyatt (resale) because of the fact I can get a fixed week. I know that there is at least definite value there. I have no trust in the other programs, which can arbitrarily change the rules a lot more easily.

I have wondered what would happen if the property defaulted, MVC declares bankruptcy, etc. What is done to protect property owners in these cases? I suppose the best you could hope for would be a share of the profits from sale of the property? Is it possible you would have to owe money associated to selling costs, etc. if the property sold at a loss?
