How is Wyndham in Puerto Rico? How’s the beach, pool, walking distance to anything?

It's one of our favorites. You definitely need some sort of transportation if you want to do the tourist thing or get groceries. It's also $15 a night for self-park. There are multiple pools and restaurants on site. People staying in Presidential reserve suites get free cabana rentals. Last time I checked, for everyone else it was $90 a day. That was a year and a half ago though so it could have gone up. I've stayed in a one bedroom presidential (not Presidential Reserve) and a three-bedroom Presidential Reserve. Both were beautiful. I've seen the studios and one bedroom, and they are very nice.

I would recommend at a minimum getting an Uber to and from the grocery store. The restaurants on site are not cheap. I could not tell you how much the Uber is, but it's cheaper then eating three meals a day at the onsite returants.

Uber was only $10-$15 each way to the grocery store or restaurants we like. Definitely cheaper than renting a car.
You can rent a car onsite, I think Enterprise & that gets free parking

Rio Mar is probably my favorite Wyndham so far. Very close to the rain forest. Multiple pools and hot tubs. No laundry in room, but had a laundry room on the same floor and was free to wash and dry. Nothing within walking distance. Walmart delivers groceries and alcohol to the resort. I always pre order and have them deliver.

PR rooms have washer & dryer. I can’t say what other units have as we’ve only stayed in ocean front PR units.

My recollections of the eastern end of Puerto Rico are mimis (biting gnats -- like wings with teeth), little lizards/kinks/geckos, coquis (tree frogs), the land crab that lived under a section of our sidewalk, insufferable humidity, and frequent showers often from a single cloud passing by that would leave a dark stripe across the road. Oh! The snake that somehow got on the roof and managed to crawl into the toilet vent down to the commode. My wife hasn't screamed like that since!

On the plus side, my fianceé flew from Santiago, Chile to San Juan so we could get married. And our daughter was born there.
