I went on a timeshare tour 10 years ago, 3 years ago, and yesterday at PBSB. They were fine the first two times, and worth the $300 resort credit for doing the tours. But the tour this time was HORRIBLE!!! (Although the first 60 minutes was actually enjoyable seeing the MonteCristo homes and their new 4-5 bedroom luxury homes - they are gorgeous.) When I got sent to the second person, ugh, they were OBNOXIOUS. I point blank said I didn't want to purchase their $2500 "vacation plan" that offered 1 week at PBSB, plus 4 additional weeks at $49 - $499 a week, and they would give me $2000 a year. I explained I had been there for 2 hours past breakfast, did not want to purchase, and would like to leave and get my gift. The guy treated me like I was an idiot for not wanting to purchase what they were offering. I just kept repeating that I wanted to leave.

Friends of mine did the same tour (thought they got $500 in resort credit) and had no problems. I guess as a single woman maybe I looked like a sucker… All in all, of the 3 hours I spent there, only 60 minutes were horrible, but just beware if you go there that the timeshare salesmen can be truly rude.

On the other hand, the tour I did at Casa Dorada for $250 credit at a local restaurant was fine. Out in 90 minutes. :)

I just noticed this post by Sally on a different thread. I should have read that earlier and used the ebay quote…

"One more small post of advice..

DO GO to any presentation you like!!

DO GO OFTEN!!...

After 90 minutes or whatever they promised..(this time DOES NOT INCLUDE BREAKFAST!!)...Tell them you want your gifts NOW!! You have served your time!!......if they give you the run around....tell them firmly..you will stand up, and declare in an extremely loud voice..YOU CAN BUY THESE WEEKS ON EBAY FOR A BUCK!!

You will be on your way!...Just do not be snotty or nasty about it. talk calmly and respectfully…"

As Cabo timeshare sales decline the salespeople have become more desperate and more aggressive and insulting. Lately intimidation is the norm and in the boiler rooms even worse. I've been asked to never come back at several resorts and once nearly got in a brawl at Cabo Viejo (now closed) after waiting over 30 min to get gifted.

Slimy people in a slimy business but occasionally you will find an honest salesperson. My estimate is about one in 15 or 20 but it's getting worse.
BTW the budget for singles in only half of the couples budget. You did good at 300 in resort credit (worth about 150 in cash) as PBS owners only get $50 per couple.

Regarding your other post- stay away from the boiler rooms (non resort locations) as we were hijacked from a location near officemax and sold to Cabo Viejo. This is totally against the law and if the OPC (hooker) (body snatcher) does not have a badge around their neck walk away as they are pirates and can sell you to anyone who gives them the most commission and you could be in danger. Badge holders are licensed and part of an association which occasionally polices and reprimands their own but can/will do nothing to prosecute the pirates (coyotes).

How did they hijack the tour? We always get a piece of paper to do a tour and then take our own taxi to the place.

They put you into a taxi with a generic invitation (no specific resort indicated) and take you to a boiler room destination (rented office front- this one above OXXO) and once you get there they ask you a few questions then say they are now taking you to the construction site sales office which is in fact any resort they have brokered the "catch" to. In our case it was Cabo Viejo and a friend was brokered to be sent to Diamonte (until we called them and intervened). They use pirates which are often ex OPCs (who know the ropes) but have had their badges voided by the association.
This is not safe or legal and often the receiving resort has no knowledge of how you got there as this is all a side deal between pirates. If this happens to you flag down a Federalie as the local police might consider it a misunderstanding".

AGAIN- NO BADGE = NO GO

This happened to us. We were Shanghaied to Casa Dorado by the driver. I told the driver I knew he could understand me. Anyway, we did a Casa Dorado tour for 500 pecos, a $100 voucher to a restaurant and four sunset cruises. We gave all of the vouches to our son, his wife, a friend the same age as our son and his wife.

Funny thing happened. We were recycled and agreed to breakfast and $300 usd from our own resort that we were already staying at. They again told me I would not be able to get a penthouse with my membership. I told him I think your wrong because I have upgraded to the penthouse and I am currently in a penthouse. A few days later I yelled HI and waved to this guy while he was showing a couple the resort, from the penthouse. :hysterical:

Only in Mexico. ;)

Yes, we have been told we are no longer able to partake in the PB Sunset Beach presentations. We were also told that we would never be able to get into the Monte Cristo.

Funny thing happened. My first week was at the VDP in Cabo and the second week was going to be Sunset Beach. We had two units and agreed to give them up for a Monte Cristo Estates Villa. I was in front of my Villa waving at the PB sales guy when the sales guy drove by and he was all smiles until he recognized me. :D The Monte Cristo sales people had asked us to do a presentation of the Monte Cristo and I told them that the PB Sunset Beach sales guy had said we could not do these any more.

Funny thing happened, we agreed to take another presentation for $300 usd and a couple of vouchers to go ziplining.

Only in Mexico. ;)
