Called today to see if they accepted credit cards for payment of the special assessment and maintenance fees. (at least I'll get some frequent flyer miles or 1% back depending on which cc I use)

"Yes, what is your credit card number and we'll get it processed today Sat Oct 8)"!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a thought.....

Apply for a separate 0% interest credit card to use for this assessment. Then the payments can be spread out over the year. I know a few people that have used this method for unplanned, large expenses; one of the better ways to use credit to our advantage.

Also consider applying for citi cards American Advantage "Platinum Select Visa signature card and get these goodies:

30,000 bonus miles after $750 in purchases the first 4 months

10,000 bonus miles with 5,000 in purchases in the first 6 months

One time $100 statement credit for the first AA purchase in the first 12 months

Annual fee of $85 waived the first year.

Earn 2 AA miles/$ spent the first 12 months then 1 aa mile/$ after 12 mo

Only makes sense if you can pay off the Visa bill in full every month.
