In Newport RI, and they were handling may of the resorts there. If anyone has any deals pending thought you'd like to know.

I was using them to sell my timeshare, and thought all was well, sort of.

Things were slow at first, but that seemed to be a Wyndham issue.

I've had a lot going on the past few months, so figured things were going okay. Today as I'm starting to deal with year end issues I realized my contact hadn't called or e-mailed me back. Called the office and just got a machine, website up, but not very interactive.

So I called the buyer whose money was sitting in escrow, as I figured he may have some inisght.

Yikes did he ever! The owner has aledgedly(I'm trying to be proper here) embezelled funds. He also gave me the name of two detectives working on the case. I have a call into the police dept, but was not able to talk with anyone yet.

I was getting so happy to say I no longer own a timeshare. Well that part is true, but I don't have any payment either. Not talking about a few dollars, not a huge amount, but certainly nothing to ignore either.

What a week, the ice storm, so no electric except from using the generator, no internet until Thursday. Full power came back Wednesday afternoon. Still better than many other homes, some who still are waiting for electric. Everyone did a great job getting everyone back up as they could.

I know things could be worse, but just thought some of you may need to know.

I did a google search on the persons name, but no info on the investigation is showing up. So I'll wait until I talk with the investigators.

Trying to stay in the holiday spirit. However, now have to tell the hubby I guess I screwed up using a co I didn't know anything about, but I didn't find anything negative about them when I called to see what they could do. No money up front, so I thought they must be okay. Well I shouldn't be saying they, I think it is just the owner, but I really don't know, also I think it was all the escrowed money, and at least the Co is here in the states and not like some of you that are dealing with a somewhat similar problem in the Virgin Islands.

If this post isn't proper - I didn't use the person's name - just remove it.

I'm a bit confused about your transaction. Who is holding you up - Wyndham or the buyer or the closing company?

Right now, I'm in the middle of a purchase in Newport. All paperwork was mailed to Wyndham's Title Department in Florida but they claim it hasn't been received yet.

Also, the gradchildren and I plan to spend the week of First Night in Newport. Did the whole town and/or Wyndham resorts lose power? Guess I better call.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm a bit rattled after finding out what is going on with the Co there.

On record with Wyndham, I no longer exist, and the buyer is the new owner. Paperwork has been recorded, but not sure about the actual closing.

I too dealt with Wyndham in Florida, when I called months ago to find out what was taking so long I was told they never got the paperwork. I had my receipt from the PO, so called them back and said from MA to FL should only be a few days, no weather related delays were going on. Well they did a bit of searching and told me they received it 3 weeks after it was sent, couldn't care less when I said was it being transferred around the office or what.

Next time I called, they said it was all in Vegas now, again not very helpful. It was October and I couldn't pay the maintenance fee on-line, so I called Vegas and they told me I no longer existed, but gave me the buyers new contract number and had me call him to pay the fee!

When I called the buyer today he is the one that told me about the investigation into escrow monies and the owner of ProNewport. It is his money and my portion of it that is at issue, along with anyone else that is buying or selling through them.

If I find out any more I'll post.

Don't expect much to be found out going into the holiday week.

Here's a website of a Newport paper that might tell you about the storm:

Good luck with your transactions, and hope Wyndham gets better with dragging their feet.

ProNewport did a closing for a timeshare I sold a few months back. The buyer wanted to use that company and I reluctantly agreed. The woman that I was dealing with was very unprofessional and bordered on incompetent. Even with the delays with Wyndham, it took about two months longer than it should have to close. Fortunately I did eventually receive the funds from the sale but I would never use them again, even if it caused a potential buyer to walk.
