We need to go to Denver over Thanksgiving for a HOA meeting as we have recently purchased a condo in Keystone:whoopie:

But, I am always a planner and the rental SUV is going to cost more then a plane ticket. Has anyone used Price line or Hotwire for a rental out of Denver?

I understand that some companies may not add spouse without a fee - if one of those grant our bid - could I just not go ahead and pay their fee for both of us to drive the vehicle. My spouse is very nervous about the car via price line - but I hate paying almost $500.00 for a SUV for 6 nights. Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks!

Having lived in Denver for over 40 years and owned a house in Breckenridge for quite a few of them, I can assure you that you don't actually need a SUV to make the trip with no problems. Remember, the roads are kept clear: Colorado needs those tourist dollars. Besides, most years there isn't much snow by Thanksgiving. We drove standard sedans and had no problems. We drove SUV's and never needed the 4 wheel drive capability. It really isn't a problem.

We used Priceline in Florida this past June. Someone had made a suggestion to try Costco. We didn't do that because we didn't want to pay for the Costco membership.($50)

It actually turned out that getting a Costco memb. would've been cheaper than Priceline. I got a very good price for a Toyota Sienna (van) for 8 days. I offered Priceline $25 day. Taxes are then added to that.

What we learned is thru Costco & AAA an extra driver such as a spouse can drive for free. We had to tack on an extra $10 day with Priceline.

Wish we had got the Costco mem. back in June because we now need a car again for a long volleyball weekend. I'm finding rental cars in my area seem to be very high.

Good Luck. If anyone else has any coupon codes or any other suggestions, I too would be interested.

We rented a car through Priceline at DIA last September. I think they gave us a car from Budget if I remember. The price was decent.....for some reason renting a car in Denver is really expensive so Priceline was a big help.

I would try Costco, I joined up when the one in our area opened last year. The discount I got at Easter for a full size car at West Palm was $90 from Alamo. So the membership paid for itself with one rental.

I have a full size rental for Orlando at Thanksgiving(week rental) for $218 and got the 2nd driver free.
