I know this must have been discussed at length but if it has (and I know it must have) I missed it.

We got into the DC early to save on fees. Didn't have any thought of what we'd do for exchanging, or if we ever would. Then I decided to cash in a couple weeks for Frenchman's Cove. The driving factors behind which I would pick was primarily led by using some of our weeks, how many points I wanted, the ability to rent certain weeks. I picked an Ocean Pointe week and a Manor Club week for a total of 6,700 DC points. That was about a week or two ago.

Tonight it dawned on me to divide maintenance fees by points allotted to each week and find just how much these points were costing me. What a difference. The OP week comes to $.32 a point but the MC is $.42.

The amount of points allotted to MC is very discouraging. My Grande Ocean Gold OF is $.29 a point. Grande Ocean Gold which has an II TDI of 105-145 gets more DC points than MC platinum with an II TDI of 150 for all the summer weeks. I just don't understand.

Since the season weeks system MF are pretty much the same across the board at a resort, the higher seasons and better views will get a better MF/point ratio. Platinum OF, will be way better than GV silver since the MF is usually the same.

TDI really doesn't have anything to do with it and TDI only applies within a region. You can't compare TDI between different regions. Points is what is comparing demand/supply across multiple regions.

Thanks dioxide.

I used the TDI simply to compare the supply and demand for two resorts in the same region (South, USA): Manor Club Platinum and Grande Ocean Gold. Manor Club has 12 weeks that hit the 150 column of the TDI. Grande Ocean gold doesn't have any. Yet, the Manor Club Plat. gets only 2375 DC points while the GO gets 3850.

Can someone tell me how many DC points a Grande Ocean Platinum gets?

My Ocean Pointe Platinum oceanfront gets 1,025 more points than my OP oceanside.

Here's the reason I ask:

Since GO is in the same region as Manor Club, and Grande Ocean platinum has the same number of weeks in the 150 column of the TDI, it would seem a better comparison to think of Manor Club as the gardenview and Grande Ocean as the oceanfront. Therefore, Manor Club's amount of DC points should be no less than 1,025 under the Grande Ocean Platinum.

I'm sure Grande Ocean DC allotment is more in line with the supply/demand across the entire Marriott system. I'm just saying Manor Club should be more in line with Grande Ocean.

This is the key. Grande Ocean is on the beach, Manor Club is not. Therefore, even for peak summer weeks, more people are likely going to want Grande Ocean than Manor Club. While MC and GO are in the same region, as far as II TDI is concerned they are not. I believe HHI is one region and Williamsburg is another. So you can't compare the TDI since the regions are different.

Thanks again dioxide.

I still believe Manor Club Platinum should get more points. My Canyon Villas gets 2,950 (not ski or ocean). Same for Desert Springs and Shadow Ridge, platinum ranges from 2,900 to 3,225.

But for now it is what it is. I was just bummed to discover the $.10 different in the point redemption values between my Manor Club Platinum and my other Platinum's.

My thanks to GregT for the Point Redemption Value chart. I didn't look at it before until it was recently referenced in the current thread on renting points.
