I have been sick with the flu since Thursday night and we leave for our trip to London this Friday. I am taking Tamiflu, echinecea, black elderberry and even anti-biotics for what felt like a sinus infection. I am very susceptible to flu, even though I get a shot every year. This year I was volunteering at a school, that's probably what happened. I just need to be well by Friday before we have to be at LAX for 3 hours and on a plane for 11. Thank you.

Hi Liz. I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. We will definitely keep you in our prayers and trust you will be feeling better in time for your trip.

Hope you get well soon!
I am so suspicious of flu vaccines, but I finally caved at my doc's suggestion to get a flu shot this year for the first time. She said there's no connection to getting the shot and then getting the flu.

Well, that was 3 weeks ago I got the shot and now I'm just getting over a nasty bout of flu. Hmmmm.

Get plenty or rest and my prayers are with you.

Praying that all will go well with your trip and that you'll feel great.

You should start to feel better TODAY. My tradeperson, who has worked for me for years, got that NASAL infection/flu a couple of weeks ago, too. He THOUGHT I had toxic building/poisoned him (brown mold, black mold, green slime, cat fever piss, sinus scope, tissue samples, blood work) and made nice-nice with his new best friend, the drugist. After 10 days of being on his death bed, his doctor told him he had the flu - the sinus version. That was his SAT doctor's (5th) appointment and he was back to work on Monday - feeling fine.:ignore: Said the DR told him - that is the big one going around.

He didn't even call me for 10 days and then it was to confirm that I HAD to be sick like dog also. Dang, I was (had been) in Florida for 7 days and was feeling great. Blew his theory of toxic building - I had been with him everywhere he had and left after he forgot to come back to work.

:) :) Feel better soon and have a wonderful trip.

I recommend a doctor's visit

I would go to the doctor and confirm you have the flu - this close to your trip it does not seem wise to rely on self diagnosis. Two years ago I self diagnosed myself as having the flu and it turned out to be far more serious. You could have knocked me over with a feather when the doctor informed me after one simple test that I did not have the Swine A virus as I was self treating myself for the flu for two weeks. Funtime

Seeing the doctor today for trigger point injections for my back. I doubt it is anything more serious, no fever, no cough or congestion. I was probably not even contagious, I just get flu easily, even after having the flu shot.
Today is better than yesterday. I just need to be free from back pain and not feeling sick on Friday with such a long trip ahead of us.

Hope you have a spring in your step tomorrow. Best wishes for a great trip.

Liz, I hope you and your husband have a really nice tip - here are my "tips" and you can take them for what they are worth. I would drastically downsize the luggage you are bringing to London - maximum of one carry on/roller bag each. I would also consider this your first trip to London not your one and only and do not try to see everything and do every walk or excursion imaginable. Also on your second or third day, take a bus excursion - greyline or equivalent - where they show you the sights but you do not have to do much walking. Also plan on seeing the literary/theater side of London - there is a half price tickets type of place that you can use. Lastly, even if you think you have beaten the flu, I would take tamaflu or some other over the counter type of remedy in case it gets worse. I think that the trick to enjoying this London trip is not to try to do and see everything and to take it easy and just enjoy being in a foreign land and a foreign city. Have fun Funtime

Still feeling chilled but still hoping I'm better tomorrow. We had each only 1 carry on, but someone said all our pills had to be in their bottles, so that was the flaw. So we each have one small checked bag and one bag or backpack on the plane. We don't go to Stonehenge till the 12th and really, I think one thing a day is all we will aim for- Westminster abbey, st Paul's, probably tower of London - a couple museums and definitely a bus tour and changing the guard. Anyone else remember the AA Milne poem?

I think sometimes the angst before a trip does us in MORE than anything. Relax, you will feel better tomorrow.;)
