I probably should not post this, but will take my last chance to clarify my point, which does not have to be factual but rather an opinion. Let me state the obvious - yes there are gangs in Denver, but the difference is that they don't rival the government here. I can buy property here without fear that in the near future the country may be run by a drug lord - something tells me it would be kind of hard to enjoy the beach.

While we are pushing the edge a little, one might even subscribe to the idea that vacations are about escaping the mundane "day to day" and putting some charge back in your life. Dodging bullets with my 3 yr old might be a little over the top, but with the very low % chance of that actually happening, exposing yourself to life outside of the classic ring of sterile offerings might actually be just what you were looking for in a vacation escape.

I wouldn't buy Lagunamar for many reasons: 1) I only buy resale and resale purchases don't come with StarOptions; 2) the MFs are too high in comparison to going rental rates; 3) Cancun is over-developed already and so it's trading capacity may be diminished; 4) Very nice TSs can be purchased for far less $$; 5) It's in a hurricane zone.

Personally, I have no fears about drug cartels running amuck in Mexico but then again I live on the edge.

It's also quite easy to rent in Cancun at a nice property.

I wouldn't buy at Lagunamar for one reason:

1) I am there this coming week via an II Getaway for $472 (2 bdr)

yes.... these are hard to find and few and far between..... but nabbed one for this year and I am happy!
