Used some 120 day holding account points from a cancelled ressie early in Covid season to snag Boston Custom House for Labor Day weekend. Hopefully the Covid path continues to improve in the Northeast and by Sept, I will be able to use this ressie. Certainly would never see this availability at this late time in any other year. There are gems to be had out there to use your 120 day holding account points if you are comfortable traveling later this year.

With the closing of Vail ski resorts and cancellation of Coachella, we had a load of holding points- like 8,000. Luckily Newport Coast villas was wide open throughout the entire summer, so we booked more villas for friends and kids bringing their friends!

I just booked a week at the Aruba Surf Club this morning for mid October using holding account points from cancelling an April Reservation at the Surf Club..I still have 1800 points Remaining in a holding account from cancelling a May reservation at the Boston Custom House..which I’m sure I will have no problem using before December 31,2021.

I was also able to get Newport Coast Villas For mid-August with the 120-day holding account points, something that would not normally be available. We can drive there, so we should be able to do this one! It feels really good to look forward to trip after having to cancel a couple other ones.

After all the negative and depressing threads about cancellations, this one is a welcome diversion. Hope you all find some gems!

Now for the 2-3 II weeks I have to deal with moving around and get some value. :)

First time dealing with holding points--I notice places I want are available, but when I am within 10 days of being able to book the window keeps moving on me?
I never seem to get closer than 10 days when all the inventory is gone.
Are there holding points that some people get to use more than 120 days out because of status?

Another note--I am Hilton Head now and rented a week off redweek because not a single resort was available for even one night in June using points....still not.
Yet none of the resorts are full--or even close to full.

Nope, when it comes to holding account points, all owners are created equal in accessing available inventory. You could just be witnessing folks with current year regular points just trying to use them this year and booking slightly outside of 120 days.

lots of competition out there whether using DC Points or II exchanges...lots of members have plenty of holding account points and II EXCHANGE weeks that they have to use.....PATIENCE and FLEXIBILITY is the key.

Not sure this is a gem in and of itself, but was able to book bookend ressies at Manor Club on both ends of my Sept Grande Ocean ressie using 120 day holding points. I currently have flights booked, but if flights get cancelled or we are not feeling airline travel is in our best interest when that time comes, I have a half way spot for a nights stay each way if we decide to travel by car. No downside to having the ressie should I cancel them at the last minute. The peace of mind insurance makes it a gem for me.

I only had 900 points in a holding account. I added Saturday and Tuesday to my reservation for Labor Day weekend at Marriott Fairway Villa. My daughter is moving into your off campus apartment 5 minutes away from the timeshare that weekend and we taking a mini vacation. I also booked Columbus Day weekend at Marriott Fairway Villa. Nothing crazy but with my daughter right there, so it's convenient. I don't know if we will ready to go back to the casinos in Atlantic City but we will find something to do and relax.

This is my first time with hold points. If I end up canceling Marco Island at the end of August I will have more holding point for next year. Since I live a little more than an hour away from Marriott Fairway Villas I can always do number of short trips to use up holding points.

I had a small amount of points in holding so reserved then cancel hoping for the extension and 120 day option. Went back to the normal UY then by the time they updated them to the current Covid cancelation rules, I'd used them for a weekend at Legend's Edge. I have some bonus points that I may or may not be able to use. Thinking about using them to reserve then canceling to extend them albeit it for lessor points.

We were supposed to be in HI for two weeks and have lots of points in holding now. I am nervous about getting the chance to use them, but better than losing them. I too am curious to see what others are able to book. Keep the treasures coming!

We made a reservation then canceled to convert the holding account points we had already to the 120 day holding account points expiring next year then we ended up taking a weekend trip so it wouldn't have mattered at all. Apparently they have to manually update the holding account points to the current rules and by the time they had done so, I had used the holding account points already. I actually got an email saying they'd updated a couple of days after I had used them.

I had used 120 day holding account points for Aug 14-16 at OceanWatch OceanSide, but just cancelled it yesterday because we won't be able to go now.

I just rebooked my fall trip for Kauai Lagoons to use up my 120 day holding account points. It was good to free up the regular points for use next years travel.

We’re currently staying at Mountainside on a six night stay booked with restricted points. We booked right when our 120 day window opened. We also have a three night stay booked at Desert Springs Villas I in late October. But actually will likely cancel that one in hopes of coming back to Mountainside next Sept.

Just booked Maui - the good towers - with holding points for Oct. It was wide open - I think most folks have cancelled so... We planed it a long time ago - still have flights (no change fee now) - I cancelled by ocean view, rebooked to an ocean front, and saved some points. Made sense both ways. I I get to go I have some extra points for next year, and if not I will still have the same number of points in holding. I am hoping that put in the covid testing rule for 1 Oct rather than lock in. Not fair to call it quarantine as I am not sick. One of my pet peeves bad use of the word quaratine and isolation - both refer to keeping sick or suspected sick people separate. Not the unknown well.

Not to argue with you but I learned on a college zoom call this summer that quarantine means isolating people or animals that have arrived from elsewhere (whether they have been exposed to an infectious disease or not). I wasn’t sure that was the standard definition so I looked it up and that is the dictionary definition. I got to thinking when you bring your pet to another country they go into quarantine for a period of time to be sure they are well so that did make sense.
Isolation is for people known to be sick.
I hope you get to go to HI without quarantine- good luck.

Check the Hawaii threads located on TUG under Timeshare Resort Regions. There are discussions about how strict they are in Hawaii which includes removal and arrests for violations.

There also is a discussion about the wearing GPS wristbands for tracking purposes.

While hoping for the best, I expect the quarantine rules will continue in October, particularly as they still haven't resolved the process for getting a negative test within three days of arriving.

If your stay is long enough(4-6 weeks), OF isn't bad, but I'd track HawaiiNow.com, MauiNow.com, etc. for the latest info and make contingency plans.

Heck, I'm still worried about Jan/Feb...
