A timeshare on the outskirts of Rome.
When I arrived, I was told there had been a car fire in the parking area.
Thus, the ashes.
The room was awful. But it was late at night so stayed the first night.
Next day, tried contacting RCI -- they were busy helping members needing lodging in USA after a hurricane. Wasn't able to speak to anyone until a week later. I left after one night. Fortunately I had Hilton Honors points to help with a hotel.

The greatest fear.. happended to us with AirBNB in Lisbon.

Which place did you end up. We stayed at the Double Tree Rome Monti in January, it was nice. My son is thinking of going next year.
