One of the sales VP's mentioned that in the near future DC points would be usable for overseas hotel reservations, and they were currently working out the legal constraints to allow this. He went into a whole explanation of how they had to comply with regulations but that the legal teams were working on it and an announcement was forthcoming.

Anyone else hear any mention of this?

I haven't heard anything. Since it came from someone in sales, I wouldn't put a lot of credibility in it.

Even if it is true, a Marriott Rewards travel package will probably be a better deal (if you have the points, of course).

I only brought it up because he was presenting it as a big enhancement to the program. Of course, the Explorer packages and cruise options are also "big enhancements," although they certainly prove that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so to speak.

The sales people always like to push the big enhancements that are yet to happen. Of course none of it could ever come to fruition. Just tell them you will be happy to buy when that actually happens.:D

You're talking to the consummate cynic here, so trust me I wasn't impressed. I was just curious if there was any wind of this elsewhere, because of his position and because he went into an elaborate explanation of the legal issues that they presently were addressing so as to allow these transactions.
