I just closed on an SDO premium one bedroom purchase this week. I bought on ebay and the whole process took about six weeks. I bought to use since my son lives in Scottsdale. I had rented at this resort previously so I knew what I was getting. This morning I made my first reservation for Thanksgiving week in 2009. The call went through with the first try and my reservation is now complete.

Thank you to everyone on TUG - this was my first purchase resale and all the information on this site was very helpful to me. Everything went very smoothly.

It can be really easy when you know what you want! Planning is the key to success. Hope you enjoy your ownership!

Good for you, Patti!! I've never been to SDO but I've heard it's a lovely property.

I'm in the same boat. Does anyone know about how long it takes for the resort to make the transfer?

I closed about a month ago and it only took Starwood a few days. Give them a call and ask them the status and make sure they have all your paperwork so their isn't a delay. I read on other threads that there were layoffs, so it may now take a little longer. But hopefully, it will not be as bad as Marriott. It took about 2 months for Marriott to record my week.

The Starwood Title person I dealt with on our last purchase was great. Apparently, the closing service did not forward the deed directly to them, but I called and they took care of it for me on the phone while I waited. Two caveats. First, we already had a Starwood Account with a previous ownership at WKV. Second, our purchase was again at WKV and the Starwood person could access the Maricopa County Records on-line to see that the deed had been recorded appropriately.

If the closing company doesn't send the deed to Starwood after it has been recorded, you can FAX your copy directly to Starwood. The FAX number is in the Owner Resources sticky.

I was recognized as an owner of SBP within about 2 weeks. I was very impressed with the speed of that particular closing. I am so used to months and months of waiting, that I assume everything will be months and months. That way, I am never disappointed. :)
