Calling all music trivialists! There was a brief hit song sometime between late 1979 and 1981. It was about moving to Maui. I thought it was Air Supply but can't find the lyrics.

It was a girl song for sure. Anyone recognize it?

Thanks
Diane

Do you remember any of the lyrics?

Nope no lyrics. Thats the problem. But it was about some girl moving to Maui. Guess it will be one of those mysteries in life....

Thanks for trying Tuggers.

Could it be Baker Street? If you didn't know the actual lyrics, it could be evocative of moving to Maui (sortof, maybe)...

Lahaina Luna?

"Oh I'm going to the island of the Valley.
To Lahaina, Lahaina Luna.
Where the mountains are green, that's where you'll find me.
In Lahaina, Lahaina Luna.

They say that Maui No Ka Oi, and I agree
that Maui No Ka Oi is the only place for me.
That's where you'll find me.
Down by the seaside
watching the moon glide
the golden sunrise.
The twinkling starlight
The evening sunset.
In Lahaina, Lahaina Luna."

Could it be Jay Ferguson - Thunder Island(1978)? It doesn't mention Maui, though. I still like hearing this one occasionally on the radio.

Maui Mama by Neil Young????

Maui Mama - Neil Young

Pretty Maui Mama
Lying over the water
With my sun in your eyes
When you hear the melody play
It changes every day
Oh, Hawaiian sunrise

Once when we were there
We had relaxing times,
Thought we might settle down.
But the music called me
And my friends have
much to spread around,
We moved from town to town.
Hawaiian sunrise.

And in the morning when you rise,
Will you look in my son's eyes?
I know you do.

Pretty Maui Mama
Lying over the water
With my moon in your eyes
From my hotel window in the clouds
I love you right out loud.
Ohm Hawaiian sunrise.

And in the morning when you rise,
Will you look in my son's eyes?
I know you do.

Thanks again,
Diane

How about, The Big Yellow Taxi, Joni Mitchell?

(Yes, I know it isn't about Maui, but maybe it's the song the OP is looking for? Although, it was a hit in 1975.)

On Utube

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Hey farmer farmer
Put away that d.d.t. now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Another guess...

How about the Eagles "Last Resort"?:

She came from Providence, the one in Rhode Island
where the old world shadows hang heavy in the air.
She packed her hopes and dreams like a refugee,
just as her father came across the sea.

She heard about a place people were smilin',
they spoke about the red man's way, how they loved the land.
And they came from everywhere to the Great Divide
seeking a place to stand or a place to hide.

Down in the crowded bars out for a good time,
can't wait to tell you all what it's like up there.
And they called it paradise, I don't know why.
Somebody laid the mountains low while the town got high.

Then the chilly winds blew down across the desert,
through the canyons of the coast to the Malibu
where the pretty people play hungry for power
to light their neon way and give them things to do.

Some rich man came and raped the land, nobody caught 'em,
put up a bunch of ugly boxes and, Jesus, people bought 'em.
And they called it paradise, the place to be,
they watched the hazy sun sinking in the sea.

You can leave it all behind and sail to Lahainajust like the missionaries did so many years ago.
They even brought a neon sign 'Jesus is Coming',
brought the white man's burden down, brought the white man's reign.

Who will provide the grand design, what is yours and what is mine?
'Cause there is no more new frontier, we have got to make it here.
We satisfy our endless needs and justify our bloody deeds
in the name of destiny and in the name of God.

And you can see them there on Sunday morning
stand up and sing about what it's like up there.
They called it paradise, I don't know why.
You call some place paradise - kiss it goodbye

It would certainly help to have just a bit more. I have all the top hits (from '50 to '06) and haven't found anything. A search for Maui through about 260G of MP3's didn't find anything except a couple of songs from there and a Jeff Foxworthy comedy routine.
