I'm fairly new here and I think I'm catching on but want to confirm something so I do it right... I have made the only reservation that I plan to make for 2016 and have 81,000 points left. I need to pool those points by the end of this month in order to have them carry over in to future years, correct?

This also brings up another question I've been wondering about. If with that 2016 reservation, I get lucky enough to book/rebook to save points, have I even come out ahead if I can't do anything with them anyway? meaning if I have no other travel plans for 2016 and at that point, I wouldn't be able to pool them because I'm already in the use year... are there any other ways to use points if you are past the cut off to pool them?

Any advice about this appreciated! thanks! :)

Deposit them to RCI or use them for another 2016 reservation.

Do you have to transfer a certain amount (like enough for a reservation) and how long are they good for in RCI. I have never done a RCI reservation so not sure how it works. I've looked but become frustrated because I can't tell how many Wyndham points need to be transferred for the size unit I'm looking for.

The RCI points chart is here. RCI deposits require a minimum of 10,000 points and may be increased in increments of 1,000 (Example: 10,000, 11,000, 12,000 or greater). They are good for 2 years from the date of deposit.

What is your VIP level?

Is there still availability for the one reservation that you want for 2016? If low risk, you could cancel the one reservation you have. Credit pool ALL of your 2016 points. Then rebook your 2016 reservation. That way, if you are able to cancel and rebook at a discount and upgrade, the points that you save will return to credit pool and be available until Dec 2018.

Exactly what I would have recommended as well.

No, it's a myrtle beach reservation so would lose it...

So, I decided to book a short stay in Williamsburg and now have 13,000 remaining 2016 points. Is that worth paying $39 to pool or should I just leave it and lose it?

Only you can make that decision, but you'd be paying $39 to save about $70, so a net of $30.

That's the part I wasn't sure of, as far as the cost savings. Can someone remind me how much it costs to buy extra points? my other option is to keep them and extend it one more night buy buying 19,000 points. I can't find where it has how much that would cost though...

thanks!

It's on page 339 of the directory, $10 per 1,000 points ($8/K for Express Reservations).
