I am at Lagunamar right now and thought I would let everyone know about the pool temps. The pool is broken up into 3 sections. The upper sections with the fountains is cold. The middle section with the water slide is colder and the main section is tolerable. There is a definite temperature change between the 3 pools which leads me to believe they have heaters but choose just not to use them.

Could be or that only one section is heated, but not the others. When we were in Cancun two years ago, the resort we stayed only heated one of thier 5 pools.

According to the concierge, the pool is not heated. I told them what I thought about that...

When we were there the 1st week they opened in August, the pool water was so warm, you can soak in it for the entire day without feeling cold. We saw the jacuzzi and thought that was a big waste of money. The ambient temperature was so hot already, who would want to jump in there? I guess the winter season is a vastly different experience...

We were there in October and I did note that the bottom pool was warmer than the middle one with the slide. I didn't even think the top one with the fountains was a swimming pool. I thought it was just decorative!

I'm not surprised that it is not heated. In December, though, I'd like it be bath temperature. :D

based on the average temps on weatherunderground - i can see why they would not heat the pools - the water in the tropics trends with the temperature

Note that WLR does not have jacuzzi's, but rather whirlpool's. They are not as hot as jacuzzi and it's constructed differently, etc.

The Jacuzzi/Whirlpools are hot today. Easily over 100 degrees. At least they have heaters on in something.

Also I was asked to do the owners update for 6500 points or $100 off my room charges. Whats a better deal?

Tell them to keep the points and $100 and to heat the pools. There is nothing that can ruin a swim up bar like a cold pool!

The points cost starwood $81.25....but what is better for you?

My wife and I just returned. We were there 13th to 20th. I opted for the $100 but I think most selected the points. We had a great time and overall thought the place was great. Some things definitely needed a bit of work though. For instance every time we showered, water would seep onto the bathroom floor and create a very large pool of water. We had to keep asking for fresh towels just to keep the floor dry (shower floor needs to be replaced). In the studio, the drawer handles by the TV were all smashed by the sliding door (poor design). The sliding door in our room was very heavy and hard to open (my wife literally could not open it). The poolside drinks are very expensive and WEAK. I think a Pina Colada was almost $9 margaritas were a little less. We were on the top (8th) floor and the AC unit in our room was ridiculously loud.

I found the hot tub to be sufficiently hot and the lower pool was enjoyable on the warmer days. The slide pool was frigid. WiFi and Ethernet work well in our room though every time I connected there it takes a couple minutes to go through the connection form (just enter your name and room number and click through about 4-5 pages).

Hoping they work the kinks out and I'm sure we will return in a couple years.

During my owners update on the last day the sales manager said the pool heater was an oversite. They are putting it in and in fact it was on site in storage awaiting installation. I guess we will see!

This is great news. We were there in November and the water was too cold for my taste. We actually had a trip scheduled for Jan 4-18. We cancelled it paritally because of the cold pool water. Once I get confirmation of the installation of the heater(s), I will rebook!

Warm pool water and a swim up bar :)

That's great. I didn't get the specifics, but we were also told that due to overwhelming response, heaters where forthcoming.

Here now,

Poor shower door design. Also glass brick in bathroom means if anyone goes at night the light pours into the master. Decent food, resort prices, pools are great and refreshingly cool but too cold to eat at swim-up. Only buildings 3-7 are open out of the first 9. They started w/ 5 in the center and are working outwards. Off of 8 is another horseshoe with buildings 10 - 16 just poured concrete buildings. 1-2 and 8-9 will come on one building at a time as time progresses. 10 -16 I think are on hold.

They were working on 10-16 when I was there last week. In fact they told me they wanted to be done by June. I am a builder and laughed and said It looks like August. Also they told me the pool for buildings 10-16 was going to be the quit pool for adults only.

I agree, the shower looks cool but there is no curb. So the water just wants to go all over.

We Have The Same Prob At Harborside

 My Advice Is To Complain To Resort Mgr Not Just Front Desk. Because Everyone Has A Different Excuse Why The Pool Is Not Heated. I Ended Up Talking With Harborside Resort Mgr*who Said They Were Waiting For Parts,* I Did Not Believe That Reason SO I Went To The Mgr In Charge Of Sales, Who Said He Would Check It Out. To My Suprise Later That Day The Pool Heater Was Up And Running. I Also Let Owner Services Know That I Thought Management Was Trying To Save Money By Not Heating The Pool. So This May Sound Crazy But First Day Of Each Trip Check The Pool And Let The Mgrs Know To Turn The Heater On.* They Also Tried To Say The Pool Didn't Have A Heater. Sorry For My Rant!!********************* Thanks Kenzie

Based on the double digit MF increases each year, I doubt that the resort managers are trying to save money by not heating pools.

LOL. And I thought it was just our room that had that problem. I should have realized that it was a "standard feature" throughout the resort. Great looking shower...until you turn the water on. :crash:

laguna mar pool temps _ update please

Can any one provide me with and update on the laguna mar pool temperatures. A recent thread stated that there were heaters to be installed. We will be arriving on January 18 and my wife has a distinct interest with the pool temeratures!

I agree. You all can nag the week before Easter, so that when we arrive on Easter Eve/Holy Saturday/my birthday it will be warm! Otherwise, I'll have to nag the week after Easter! An old chick in a bathing suit whining about the pool temperature is NOT good for business.
