We purchased a brand new Polaroid PDX-0758 7 inch Portable DVD Player years ago for $125. After awhile it would not read any disk. When I called, they told me the lens may be dirty and to buy a lens cleaner disk. The rep told me I could get a replacement from Polaroid for $85. Any suggestion on
how to get Polaroid to replace it for free since it has barely been used.

I "googled" Polaroid Portable DVD Player and found so many complaints that I can not image how they are staying in business! It looks like there are lots of class action lawsuits regarding there products.

I feel for you but you want Polaroid to replace your player for free? One that you bought "years ago"? I would say your chances are nil.

I feel that the Polaroid Portable DVD Player I purchased was a lemon!
Polaroid knew that their product was defective and they should have recalled and/or fixed these Portable DVD Player at no extra charge...

That's what the warranty period is for. Why didn't you attempt to get it fixed in the warranty period? If it broke outside of the warranty period, I don't see why you think you are entitled to a new player.

How often you used the product has no bearing on this at all. That is like buying a car and storing it in a garage and never using it. If you take it out after 10 years and something doesn't work, would you expect the car manufacturer to give you a new car???

The sad fact of the matter is that we live in an era of disposable goods, where cheap price trumps quality. If you expect any $125 portable electronics item to last more than a couple years (if that), you're far more optimistic than most.

Also, keep in mind that Polaroid is no longer the company you may think it is...
