If you buy resale a Sheraton property, are you in the point system or is it similar to Marriott that doesn't allow resale into the point system?

Depends on what you buy. If you buy a mandatory resort, yes; if you buy a voluntary resort, no. Reading the sticky above for folks new to the Starwood system will help answer your questions, including what properties are mandatory.

I am thinking amount Desert Oasis. I don't know where to find more info on mandatory or not.
